Alana Mevissen is not only a GC Skin regular and dear friend, she is an incredibly talented and sort after makeup artist. Based here on the Gold Coast, Alana gets the call up from most major brands for fashion shoots, shows, events and commercials on the GC, in Byron and Brisbane. You’ll find her on location with Blackmilk, Hello Molly, Valley Eyewear and Lorna Jane. She’s a beauty guru and knows what it means to have a gooooood product in your hot little hands. Skin prep is paramount to Alana’s makeup ritual on a job and she’s worked with endless skincare brands to find the right fit. In 2016 Alana was named the Australian Beauty Industry Awards – Makeup Artist of the Year, so yep she’s got street cred. We sat down with Alana to chat about one skincare range she is loving and so are we, Cosmology Skincare.
WHEN DID YOUR LOVE OF HEALTHY SKIN BEGIN?
When I was 26 I looked in an elevator mirror and thought my skin didn’t look like it used to. That’s when I decided it was time to take skincare more seriously and treat my skin with more respect. I know – I was a bit late to the party BUT I think I was just in time!
HOW HAS YOUR SKIN JOURNEY BEEN SINCE THEN?
I have tried a range of products from all natural ingredients to cosmeceutical brands and each have had their place in my skincare routine at one time. I always try to use the best products for my skin as I know you don’t get another chance at this! I have never been one to get facials but since starting my monthly routine of seeing the girls at GC Skin I’ve really noticed the difference as well as it being such a lovely habit of self care!
HAVE YOU EVER STRUGGLED WITH YOUR SKIN?
Only now being in my 40’s! I now notice the lines and lack of elasticity on my face. Since my facials at GC Skin in conjunction with using the Cosmology Skincare range, my skin is looking more like 30 year old skin and I’m so happy about that!
BIGGEST BELIEFS WITH SKINCARE?
Don’t be afraid to stop what you’re using and doing and try something different if you are not seeing results. Also – SPF!!!!!
WHATS A TYPICAL SKIN ROUTINE LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?
At the moment…
Morning –
Cleanse using Cosmology Hydrating Milk Cleanser, apply Active A Serum, apply Rejuvenating Eye Cream, apply Collagen Moisturiser. Then I apply my mineral makeup which includes natural SPF.
Night –
Cleanse using Cosmology Hydrating Milk Cleanser then I am using the Restorative Oil and Rejuvenating Eye Cream. I also exfoliate once a week as well as seeing the girls at GC Skin for my monthly facial!
FAVOURITE PRODUCTS IN THE COSMOLOGY SKINCARE RANGE?
Hydrating Milk Cleanser and Rejuvenating Eye Cream, they are so beautiful! I’ve never used an eye cream like this one before. I even use it on my lips and frown lines and it plumps those areas right up!
