PSA: pigment can be corrected
Most of us are battling or have battled pigmentation at some point. Whether it has been caused by too much time in the sun or from hormonal imbalances due to pregnancy. Melasma, sun spots and discolouration of the skin can make us look older than we actually are and have an effect on our self confidence. GC Skin Boutique Gold Coast aim to enhance our clients self esteem and self confidence, we’ve got you!
If you’ve experienced the darkened upper lip that looks like a moustache from a distance, you’ll understand the frustration! However if your’e also fond of your freckles, leave them be and enjoy that sun kissed look.
Pigmentation is a stubborn condition that takes consistency and patience for results to be visible. Although not completely curable, it can be corrected over time. You will need to keep up the maintenance of treatments at GC Skin Boutique Gold Coast to keep it at bay.
Melasma is more of a grey-brown colour that appears in patches on the cheeks, chin, bridge of the nose, forehead and above the upper lip – again this type is usually caused by pregnancy or the contraceptive pill. Sun exposure and heat can exacerbate melasma, so keeping sun exposure to a minimum and ensuring you are wearing a physical sunscreen (shop Cosmology Skincare’s UV Defense Moisturiser) daily. After giving birth, melasma can fade slowly on its own, but some is so stubborn that it will need treatment.
Sun spots are caused by what their name suggests, over exposure to UV rays. Sunspots appear more brown or tan in colour and have a spotty appearance on the face. Although they don’t pose a health risk (always get them checked if they start to become raised or change in shape), they don’t look too flattering when they are starting to cover areas of the face. Depending on the amount of sun exposure you have had, sunspots usually start to become more prevalent from 40 onwards.
We highly advise avoiding tanning beds to prevent any type of pigment. Tanning beds are big no for us. Try to avoid the sun between 10am and 3pm, choose cosmetics that have SPF (shop Cosmology BB Cream for glow and SPF)
GC Skin Boutique Gold Coast offers an array of options to treat pigment and hyperpigmentation. Our collection of treatments are designed to tackle even the most relentless discolouration, because remember, pigment can be corrected. Depending on the type of pigmentation, your therapist will recommend the correct treatment. Remember that the process takes time, you will need to return to clinic a few times to see a difference.
Let’s take a look at our most effective and popular ones:
Lumecca IPL Laser – Lumecca IPL has become one of our most sort after treatments in clinic due to it’s speedy results and effectiveness on varying discolouration. It is a non-invasive technology that uses light therapy to eliminate age spots, sun spots, freckles. It is not recommended for treatment of melasma. This treatment is customisable and can be tailored to target the patient’s skin needs and areas of concerns. This IPL device is highly effective due to it’s optimised power and output. With a high pulse repetition rate and inbuilt cooling tip, patients have the opportunity to reach their skin goals in fewer treatments than other IPL devices, and with greater comfort. Specialty Facial Peels – our peels are customised to each clients specific needs and type of pigmentation. By removing the skin’s outer layer, it enhances the creation of the healthy new layer below, which diminishes the appearance of unwanted pigment. Over time, these new layers will move pigment on. Another bonus is that peels have the ability to treat wrinkles, enlarged pores and blemishes. Our therapists will offer you a tailored peel programme that will offer great results with minimal downtime. Each peel will vary in strength and effectiveness for the type of pigment you have. Micro-needling– micro needling has become one of the OG’s in skin treatments at GC Skin Boutique Gold Coast. This regenerative skin treatment will target a number of skin concerns in both men and women. By creating tiny and evenly spaced punctures in the treatment area, and creating micro-injuries (without causing damage to the skin), it stimulates the skin’s natural healing response. This effectively induces the collagen and elastin production. So how does it help pigment? Microneedling helps to reduce pigment (including melasma) by breaking up the pigment below the skin. Hyperpigmentation sits within the epidermis and responds very well to micro needling. Microneedling is also able to reach the deeper layers of the skin, the dermis, but this will take a bit longer to treat. Starting from: $249
