One of the most important days of the year has arrived – International Women’s Day. This day allows us to celebrate fearless women in our lives, including ourselves. Some of these women have been through incredibly difficult battles of their own, some have worked tirelessly towards success and others have risen above their challenging circumstances no matter what life throws at them.
Watch the reel here.
Cherokee is a part of the GC Skin family and is adored by all in the clinic. What makes us admire her so much? She is a single mum of 4 and works full time to support her family, one income and one income only. This lioness juggles motherhood and a professional life to provide for her family. Cherokee is also an indigenous woman in her community, standing against some unfair stereotypes, and let’s face it – racism. We were so lucky that Cherokee gave us some of her time to talk about her life, and what makes her a fearless woman.

Most of you will know Gab, she is the owner and founder of GC Skin Boutique which has been running for over 6 years. She built her brand off her passion of making women feel their best, and be completely confident in their skin. Gab went through a monumental tragedy in her life when she lost her mum to cancer. She not only grieved heavily and deeply, she reflected on the admiration she has for her mother who kept going for as long as she could, being strong and resilient for her family. These fearless women deserve tremendous acknowledgement.

Fearless women are also the ones who move across the world to chase dreams, warm waters and palm trees. Camila is a photographer who packed her life up and moved from Brazil to Australia, on her own. Setting up her life and her photography brand in a foreign country, took strength and absolute self-belief to achieve her creative goals. Sacrificing many things to get here, she stood firmly in the belief that from little things, big things grow. Ozzy Palms represents a slow lifestyle, storytelling and authentic visuals. Her imagery is inspired by her love of the ocean, nature, and beach culture.

Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation
Cervical cancer awareness is imperative to a woman’s health. Regular pap smears should not be taken lightly, if you are between the age of 24-75, get them every 5 years – be diligent. In 2021, in Australia alone, 851 new cases of cervical cancer were diagnosed. In 2020, 209 women died from the disease. Although you may think these statistics are not wildly alarming, you do not want to be a statistic in any capacity. Indigenous women are 2 times more likely to develop cervical cancer, and 3.8 times as likely to die from it. HPV causes 70% of cervical cancers worldwide and being sexually active increases this chance dramatically.
It’s important to know the symptoms of cervical cancer, let’s be more aware this International Women’s Day:
- Vaginal bleeding after sex
- Vaginal bleeding after menopause
- Vaginal bleeding between periods or periods that are heavier or longer than normal
- Vaginal discharge that is watery and has a strong odour or that contains blood
- Pelvic pain or pain during sex
It’s no joke, and we want all of our beautiful clients to be aware and informed. We love you, and we want you here.

Since 2007, the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation (ACCF) is dedicated to preventing cervical cancer and supporting all individuals impacted by cervical abnormalities and cancer of the cervix. Donate to ACCF this International Women’s Day.
